Kingdoms of Amalur (PC)

Amalur, which will make its debut with the launch of Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning next year.

The PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 game, which was formerly known as Project Mercury, is scheduled for an autumn 2011 launch and is the brainchild of some of the biggest names in the fantasy genre.

It will introduce players to the world of Amalur, a mystical fantasy land dreamt up by bestselling author RA Salvatore especially for the game, while its visual style will be crafted by Todd McFarlane, creator of comic character Spawn.

Overseeing the whole project will be Ken Rolston, best known to gamers for his work as lead designer on the critically-acclaimed classic The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion.

Jen MacLean of 38 Studios said: "We can't wait to share the first details of this universe we have been so dedicated to building over the past few years."

Fans will be hoping the new title can live up the standard set by The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, which has sold millions of copies and won countless industry awards since launching in 2006.
